Product Description

Artists: Cherie Call & Lindy Butler

Winner of the Parents’ Choice Gold Award for children’s music! Cherie Call and Lyndy Butler come together for “The Buddy System,” a freewheeling, magical children’s album full of warm, imaginative, playful tunes. Call’s beloved, rich alto and Butler’s whispering, affectionate tone make a stellar duo, and together they explore the whole gamut of childhood experience. From the melodramatic romp, “Oh No! Oh Yes!” to the dulcet, poignant “I Love You All the Colors,” their songs evoke scenes from daily life with children in color and detail. Sometimes singing from a parent’s point of view, and sometimes from a child’s, Call and Butler have honed an uncanny ability to find magic in the everyday. In “Like a Butterfly,” Butler’s delicate, fluid voice goes straight for your heart with a tale of resilience and emerging self-confidence. Call delivers a songwriting and storytelling masterpiece in “The Astronaut and the Mermaid” (recipient of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest Grand Prize), a delightfully fanciful celebration of differences: simple but fascinating, sweet but profound. If you’re looking for a children’s album your kids will have on repeat for weeks - without a single objection from you - this is it.
About the Artists:

Singer/songwriter Cherie Call was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona, and has been performing in front of appreciative audiences since she was three. By the time she turned 13, Cherie was writing and performing many of her own songs. Since graduating with a music degree from Brigham Young University, she has recorded six albums of her original songs and has been honored with several Pearl Awards from the Faith Centered Music Association. Her albums include Beneath the Stars, He Gives Flowers to Everyone and Gifts. Cherie lives in Utah with her husband, Joe, and daughter, Sydney.

Lyndy Butler wrote her first song in grade school, a limerick about how running barefoot made her as fast as lightning. In high school she started her first band, The Live Krickets, who mostly sang about boys and heartbreak with an occasional punk rock version of a Rodgers and Hammerstein show tune. Her college years were filled with more band gigs and wedding singing, and by this point she knew songbird was her spirit animal. She has traveled all over the country performing, learning about the music business, and showcasing in prestigious songwriting festivals and expos. Lyndy was a finalist in the legendary Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, and was recently announced as a finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Competition. Much of Lyndy's songwriting is inspired by motherhood and childhood. She has independently released two full length albums of original songs, “The Dream,” & “Going Places,” and both have received great praise, earning “Southern Utah’s Best Album” in 2011 and 2013. She currently lives in Hurricane, Utah with her husband and four children.
