Liken the Scriptures
When her choir teacher (Angela Winston) is suspended for refusing to remove “Silent Night” from her school’s winter concert, Amelia (Lauren Faber) is heart-broken. Her father (Joel Dehlin) and the family housekeeper (Frank Gerrish) use the story of Samuel the Lamanite to help teach her the importance of standing up for one’s beliefs. Samuel’s integrity as he prophecy’s to the Nephites about the birth of the Savior is an inspiration to all. Through the imagination of a modern-day girl, Samuel the Lamanite’s prophecy is brought to life. Watch first-hand the people of Nephi as they are persecuted for their faith by the unbelievers, led by both the ruler of Zarahemla and the sergeant of the stout-hearted band of Nephite archers (George Dyer and Clayton Vance). The whole family will enjoy this fun and deeply moving film, Samuel the Lamanite.
I saw Jonah and can't wait for the dvd to come out.
I can't get enough liken my kids and I watch them over and over.
I love this episode from Liken. I was laughing, learning, and singing the whole time!
This movie is so timely - it shows the struggle that latter-day saints can have living in the last days, and comparing it to the people of the Book of Mormon works very well.
The talent is really amazing in this one, too.
The archers in this movie look like Robin's Merry Men. Liken is soo funny. How they think of these things is beyond me. They have added a little computer graphics to this one. I guess the budget is getting bigger. I thought the targets were funny but a lady in our ward thought they were hilarious. This is her families favorite Liken movie. Again it is a movie that teaches good values and coping skills. It has a great message and teaches stories from the book of Mormon. This one is the movie with a political view. The teacher has to make a choice between her job or taking a Christmas song out of the school 'Holiday' show. We teachers struggle with that fine line daily. I really can't mention a favorite song, if that says anything. I like the music but can only remember 'The N.A.C.' Nephite Archery Corps. Too funny
Just like The First Christmas, Samuel the Lamanite has such a huge dose of spirituality that it has brought this story to life in a powerful way. I cannot wait for the next one and the next one, and the next one. I am so glad to be bringing my children up on such good spiritual nutrition and entertainment.
